J.Yoshida's residence - Tycoon in the village

 In Edo period, shogunate had some great horse ranch in Kazusa, Northern Chiba Prefecture, and located some village headman for breeding military horses. "Kogane"-ranch, which occupied half of Kashiwa City and Nagareyama City in Today, was one of those horse ranch.

Yoshida family were one of hereditary village headman belonging Kogane-ranch. They engage in breeding as squire, and started brewed soy sauce as sideline from 1805. Even now, there are extant Yoshida family residence in rural side of Kashiwa.

Yoshida family residence build in mid 19 century, last some decade of Edo period. So surprisingly, there are large gate like Daimyo's residence, in most case it was arrowed only Samurai but Yoshida family got exception.

After Meiji restoration, the new government abolished shogunate ranch. Then Jinzaemon Yoshida, paterfamilias of Yoshida family from Meiji era to early Showa era, started to focus on soy sauce business and capitalist in Kashiwa. Yoshida soy sauce brewery sold some line up, the special grade was "Kikko-Chiyo (meaning thousand ages)", and the ordinary grade was "Hanano-I (meaning name of their village)", these main market were county side of Northern Kanto district because of avoiding competitive pressure from other soy sauce brewery like KIKKOMAN CORPORATION in Noda. In addition, J.Yoshida established bus company.

But until Taisho era as KIKKOMAN CORPORATION becoming Gulliver, J.Yoshida sold his soy sauce brewery and changed his job. He established Kashiwa racecourse, and more he planed amusement park under the influence of Ichizo Kobayashi who developed Hankyu-Takaraduka amusement complex.

Today, his soy sauce brewery and racecourse was closed, amusement park is never build up, but his residence is still there and saving as national important cultural property.
