Ice cream Tempura - Deep-fried ice cream literally

 It was Portuguese for Japanese people that the first contacted European in 1541. Soon after, Portuguese people introduced some European Cuisine to Japanese people. Fritter was one of those, and it changed to Japanese style fritter so called "Tempura" until 17th century.

Later in 1860, Fuchizo Machida, a member of shogunate mission to the United States ate ice cream in America, as the one of first Japanese who taste ice cream. 9 years later, he established the first Japanese capital ice cream shop in Yokohama.

And sometime in modern, "Tsunahachi" the second, the president of Tsunahachi tempura store established 1924, invented "Ice cream Tempura" for the purposes of getting interest by funny tempura. He was inspired from fried ice cream in1893 world's Columbian Exposition probably. Why is ice cream not melted by deep-frying in hot tempura oil?
