Firefly squid - Spring Awakening

I think that spring isn't coming without boiled firefly squid -"Hotaru-Ika". So, today it's coming. I have it!! It was so beautiful brownish purple and going well with beer.

As its name suggests, firefly squid have luminescent system like firefly.

Namerikawa in coast of Toyama bay is Most popular district that produces firefly squid. In every spring, shoal of firefly squids rush to the beach in Namerikawa. So, coast of Toyama bay with illumination by firefly squids is the special natural monument in Japan from 1952.

But today, firefly squid from Hamasaka, Hyogo Pref. are major than Namerikawa in Japanese market. 

Anyway, I really think that spring isn't coming without boiled firefly squid.
